Quoting deke7344

I know Bill but it's doubtful they'll limit their own free ride. It was one of a very few oversights on the part of our Founding Fathers. They never envisioned politics as a life long career but rather a temporary service to country.

Joe Biden is a perfect example of the downside of this inbreeding. I was in Philly when his first wife died in an auto crash. The sympathy vote elected him at age 29. He never had a real job and here his is, 39 years later and this totally undistinguished empty suit, who received 5 consecutive student deferments while Vietnam was going on and who was never higher than the bottom 3rd of any school he attended is now our #2.

God help us.

People didn't live as long in the 18th century and the Founding Fathers figured that everyone would serve a term or two and then return to their plantations or businesses. RE: Joe Biden. How did he make his money? He sells himself as the product of a coal mining town and I think his father was a teacher. He was living on a sprawling estate type of property complete with a guest house in the back for his mother before he was elected VP. I can't understand why he was never asked where he got the money as a lifelong gov't employee. No wonder the slugs want to remain in office. The public is so fed up with Congress that something may happen with term limits at some point. I am sure that if they pass it; it will be with a provision making sure that the limits only apply to those who enter Congress in the future and the current scoundrels will be exempted. Who would believe they passed prohibition and then repealed it???

I agree and I'm sure 2/3rds of the electorate agree but it would require a Constitutional Amendment and that isn't going to happen. The only way we, the people can make this happen is to vote them out of office after 12 years... regardless of their record.

Probably not Deke, but they did pass the 22nd Ammendment which limits the President to 2 terms or 10 years; so there is hope.

I agree, Deke. And let's spray them all with cold water just for good measure. We need Congressional term limits...
